About Danette

Career

Danette Kubanda is an Emmy award winning television producer, writer, speaker, media coach and publicity consultant.  Her extensive career spans more than twenty years in the business working for some of the most recognized and respected names in the industry.   She’s earned the highest award in the field – twice – with two Daytime Emmy Awards to her credit.

She began her career at CNN, “The Most Trusted Name In News.” She worked on virtually all of the shows airing on CNN and CNNI at the time, including Larry King Live, Crossfire, and Burden of Proof.

From there, Danette moved on to the legendary Oprah Winfrey Show, where she spent four years helping viewers to “live their best lives.”  From celebrity shows, to cooking shows; serious social issue discussions to lifestyle makeover shows, her experience at Oprah exposed her to the most influential people, products and processes of our time.

Her focus shifted to home life as her next endeavor led her to write and produce for several of HGTV’s favorite kitchen and home makeover shows. I Want That! Kitchens, Kitchen Trends and Spice Up My Kitchen made her an expert on all the latest and greatest gadgets on the market, while specials like HGTV’s Ultimate Wedding Guide and Domino Design Bazaar prepared her for her own bridal bliss and home design.

Danette caught the travel bug and produced All Girl Getaways for Fine Living Network before heading into the courtroom.  Fox’s Emmy winning show, Cristina’s Court earned her the highest distinction of her television career.

After years of sifting through pitches from public relations representatives, authors, and experts seeking to secure a segment on one of her shows, she now is offering her hard-won expertise to clients of her own.  She knows what producers are looking for in a guest and she is helping people become the media darlings they’re searching for. As a media coach for the National Publicity Summit, she’s helping aspiring experts fine-tune their pitches, presentation skills and on-camera presence for the press.

She serves clients from around the county and around the world, from Sri Lanka and Australia to Venezuela and Sweden. In between client calls, she is working on her first book, expected to be launched in Summer 2021.

She has been a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, the National Association of Professional Women and holds board positions on several other local organizations.

Danette earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kent State University’s prestigious School of Journalism and Mass Communications.  She graduated Cum Laude while also serving as News Director for TV2, the campus’s student run television station.  Under her leadership, the station was awarded the Regional Award for “Best Newscast” from the Public Relations Society of America.  Danette also received the University’s Brett Hope Memorial Award for excellence in Journalism.

She currently lives in Tennessee with her husband PJ, their 3 young children Cyrus and twins Ivan and Willa, and their Doberman Casper.
